Blue-poppies in Bloom

Longwood Gardens forces Meconopsis 'Lingholm' to flower every year in March, producing large blossoms that average four inches in diameter. Blue-poppies are infrequently cultivated outside their native habitat, the high elevations of the Himalayan Mountains.

An arch of cascading blooms in purple hues frames an open indoor entrance at the top of a small stone stairway, surrounded by palms and blue and green hydrangeas, with a shell-shaped garden fountain at front right.
